Five-Minute Breathing Reset

For when your body is running faster than your mind can keep up with.

  1. 1Sit or lie down somewhere you won't be interrupted for five minutes, if you can.
  2. 2Breathe in slowly through your nose for a count of 4.
  3. 3Hold for a count of 4.
  4. 4Breathe out slowly through your mouth for a count of 6 — longer than the inhale.
  5. 5Hold for a count of 2, then repeat the full cycle for five minutes.
  6. 6If your mind wanders, that's normal. Just come back to the count.
