The Quiet Changes Worth Noticing

Struggle rarely announces itself. It shows up in small shifts, easy to explain away.

The signs that someone is struggling are usually subtler than people expect — a withdrawal from things they used to enjoy, changes in sleep or appetite, a shift in how they talk about themselves, more irritability than usual. Individually, each is easy to explain away. Together, over time, they're worth paying attention to.

You don't need to be certain something is wrong to check in. You just need to notice a pattern and be willing to gently name it, without diagnosing or catastrophizing: "I've noticed you seem more withdrawn lately, and I wanted to ask about it."

Trust the pattern more than any single day. And trust your instinct to check in, even if you're not fully sure it's warranted. It usually is.
